Sacramento Whiskey and Scotch Society

The purpose of this group is to discover new Scotches and Whiskys, including some that we might not be inclined to purchase due to financial restraints. By dividing the cost, we are able to try some higher end drinks than we would normally partake in. During our meeting, we will write/discuss about what we like and dislike, what flavors we tasted, an overall rating, etc.

I (Ryan) will write up each person's notes after our meeting, and aggregate and post them to this group for future reference.

The rules:

1) Have fun!
2) One person is selected to purchase one bottle of Scotch or whisky. That person is responsible for hosting the get together to sample the new bottle, whether it be at their home or a different venue.
3) We rotate through all members throughout the year.
4) After the bottle is purchased, the cost is divided by the number of members, and each person will reimburse the purchaser for their share.
5) Individual limit is $30 (so with 4 people, the max price of a bottle can be $120. If there is a more expensive bottle, the purchaser must get permission from the other members before the exception can be made.
6) Each member gets to take home equal percentages of the bottle in their decanter.
7) We meet approximately monthly or bi-monthly (as time permits).
8) Max number of members is 4.
9) We will have two official tastings per meeting. The first shall be neat, and the second will be over ice or with water. We will take notes on both, and compare any differences.
10) If any member wishes to have a guest try our bottle, that portion shall come out of their personal decanter.
11) The purchaser is entitled to keep the bottle.

12) Before pouring the first tasting, the bottle is divided equally among the members into their personal decanter.

13) If a member is not present at a meeting, they will still get their equal share.
